MiniDV stands for Mini Digital Video. The format was launched in the mid '90s and was vary popular among consumers and professionals. A miniDV tape is slightly smaller than a standard business card with approximate dimensions: 2 1/2 " wide by 2 " high and 1/2 "depth. Most MiniDV cassettes can hold between 60 and 90 minutes of standard definition video.
Sorry, there is no miniDV tape adapter to VHS that would allow you to watch your miniDV video through your VCR, and Sony has discontinued manufacturing most miniDV players and cameras.
