VCR Tapes

VCR tapes, are the same thing as VHS tapes. While the term VCR tapes is commonly used VCR stands for Video Cassette Recorder, the device that plays or records VHS tapes. The VCR recording standard was developed by JVC in the '70s and VCR tapes were one of the post popular consumer formats into the '90s. A VCR cassette is about the size of a book about 7 1/2" wide 4" tall, and 1" deep. The tape where the video is stored using magnetic technology to store video in analog form on a 1/2" wide tape. Recording time was variable but T-120 tapes are most common and can record up to 2 hours in standard definition.
